i’ve been going to a lot of graduations and stuff like that in the past few weeks. You all are going to be moving on from one area of your life into a new place. I love that. I am excited for this summer. When you are out of school, make sure to sign up for our twitter account to see what/when/where we are going to be. We might have a game of ultimate Frisbee in the park, or we may all go to the valley to swim. but whatever you do, make sure to spend time with God this summer. strengthen that connection. As your lives continue to journey from one place to the next, God will b an invaluable asset to you and those you meet.

So, cheers to you grads, and may this summer be a transition for you that isn’t just academic, but spiritual.

Ever wonder where you fit, what your purpose is? Not just at church, but in any context. Have you ever been in a crowd and looked around and wondered, am i a crucial part of this, or just a small percentage of a huge movement.

You are special, important, and made with a specific purpose in mind. you are invaluable and non-expendable; crucial. God made you for HIS purpose and will. NEVER conform to a group. Never allow your value to be determined by your usefulness to a humanistic set of rules and regulations.

Seek God’s plan. seek God’s plan in a group of people and on your own. seek God’s plan for your own life and for your friends. see, it’s not what role you play, it’s what play you are in that should be your focus. are you in the “This Is My Life” play, or the “God’s Gonna Do Amazing Things” play?

Don’t accept your situation and grow into it. Maneuver your life to where you are convicted to be, based on your skills, personality, and convictions. listen to the council of wise people, study the truths of scripture.

I want to be used in a dynamic way. I want to be a help to you. i want to encourage you and care for you. I want to motivate you when you are tired, and calm you down when you are wired. I want to cuddle when you are scared, and raise you up when you are triumphant. I want to lead in a way that is a service to you. I want guide in a way that is exciting for you.

Oh God, hear my heart. Take what you do not like and destroy it. Create in me the passion for your presence, and swell in me the the wisdom to bring about your message, use the tools at my disposal, understand the signs, and accept direction.

No apologies. I love her. I am constantly amazed at how she takes care of me, and puts up with my insecurities and problems. She pushes me to be a better me, and comforts me when I fail. I hope, one day, to be as cool as she is.

I know that sometimes students feel awkward hearing me gush about my wife, but I think its healthy. To hear what they hear in schools all the time, coming from a married couple will hopefully make them understand the seriousness of a relationship, and the joy to be had in marriage.

I will not apologize for talking about my wife in a loving way, I will however say that I am sorry for our culture. I am sorry that you feel weird hearing me talk about my wife how I do, I am sorry that you find it uncomfortable to hear these things from a pastor. I am sorry that it has not become the norm for married men to think their wives are super smok’n hot. I am sorry that our culture is like this, but I am working on it, and perhaps now you can understand me a little better.

Just A Few Days Away

I trust that you all have been practicing hard. It’s hard work to coordinate a team to work together for a specific goal. each person needs to learn the play, what their part is, and the strengths and weaknesses of everyone else. This is A LOT like church! If you miss church, it doesn't mean you are a bad person, it does mean that you miss out on learning the plays, figuring out your part, and getting to know others. The flip side of that is that you can come to church and STILL not do any of that. It’s like going to a sport practice and just goofing around the whole time. Its like you are on the team, just not PART of the team.

So the question here isn’t just, “Are you attending church?” No, the question is, “Are you PART of the church?”
